Laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical treatment aimed at eradicating lines and wrinkles and improving the appearance of facial blemishes, from sun damage to acne scarring.
During a CO2 laser resurfacing treatment, short pulses of light energy are directed beneath the skin’s surface to stimulate collagen production, at the same time as the top layer of skin cells is removed to reveal new undamaged skin beneath.
In the past, a CO2 laser resurfacing treatment involved a high degree of downtime, but at the VIVA Clinic we use the factional CO2 laser that means that only some of the skin’s surface is targeted leaving ‘bridges’ of untouched skin. With this machine you get the same great results as traditional CO2 laser skin resurfacing, coupled with a much faster healing process.
In patients with darker skin, laser skin resurfacing can increase the risk of pigmentation changes, so it is important that you seek an experienced practitioner who can assess your skin correctly. Dr Tapan is experienced in treating patients of all skin types.
Treatments that CO2 laser resurfacing is used for include acne scarring, sun damage, large pores, lines and wrinkles and it can be used on the face, hands and neck.
